Who Can Wear MBT?
Specialists recommend the application of MBT for a variety of musculoskeletal problems such as:
• Back, hip, leg and feet problems
• Joint, muscle, cartilage and tendon injuries
If MBTs are to be used as accompanying therapy for existing underlying problems your medical specialist must be consulted prior to purchase.
Medical Preclusions
MBTs are not recommended for use by customers with several conditions including the following:
• Morton’s Neuroma
Symptoms can be aggravated by increased blood flow and muscle activity in feet
• Irritable sciatica
Symptoms may be set off by increased activity
• Skin ulceration on legs
• Peripheral neuropathy accompanied by a loss of sensation in legs
• Spinal Stenosis
Narrowing of the spinal canal or spaces (foramina) where nerves exit
• History of unexplained falls
• Blindness
• The first 12 weeks following surgery of any kind
• Pregnancy
If you have not worn MBT before you are advised to wait until after the baby is born.
If you have already been wearing MBT prior to the pregnancy you can continue to do so as the body will have adapted to the changes. Stop if you experience any discomfort associated with wearing them. Review use during the 3rd trimester as your point of balance will change. Feet can swell during pregnancy which will affect the fit.
• Achilles Tendonitis
The stretch provided by MBT may be too much and cause further aggravation
• Deep Vein Thrombosis
Increased muscle activation of the calf may lead to the clot becoming dislodged. MBTs should not be
worn until permission to resume exercise has been given by your doctor.
